Therapy Dog Training
and Testing
We offer both therapy dog training and testing here at Heeling Souls K9 Training. Our Therapy dog training course is 6 weeks long and focuses on building the skills needed for you and your dog to be a successful Therapy Dog team in the community. The testing is a prerequisite before volunteering as team.
We have Partnered with a lovey local organization called Sunshine Therapy Dogs. They plan, set up and organize all the visits you would be doing with your dog in the community. After passing and completing your test you will receive an email at the beginning of each month with all the volunteering opportunities available that month. you respond back to the email letting them know which events you will be attending depending on your availability.
You don't need to complete the 6 week course before taking the test if you and your dog are ready to start volunteering without further training. The 6 week course is designed to teach you and your dog the skills needed to do Therapy Dog Work. The test is designed to evaluate if your dog is suitable to be a Therapy Dog.
*Therapy Dogs don't have public access meaning they cant go everywhere with you. They can only go to the facility that the organization has set up visits with which can change monthly.
